XTL Transport: Installation of high-bay racking for a distribution centre

AGIR Installation carried out the assembly of racking at XTL's distribution centre in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, a company specializing in transportation, logistics, warehousing, and distribution.

The project includes long rows of metal structures that make use of the building's height for storing palletized goods. The installation stands out for its blue frames, mostly orange beams, and grey metal pallet supports spread across several levels.

The rows structure the storage areas and define the traffic aisles. Yellow guards complete the setup at the base of the uprights and at certain row ends.

This project showcases AGIR Installation's expertise in assembling large-scale storage structures for distribution operations.

The challenge

Maintaining assembly precision across the full height and length of the rows

The scale of the installation required particular attention to frame positioning and the consistency of storage levels. Across long rows, structure alignment and even spacing were central to the assembly. The layout also had to account for columns, ductwork, and suspended heating units. The positioning of the racking had to fit around these elements while preserving the planned access between rows. Working at height added a coordination challenge. Handling the beams, moving the aerial work platforms, and accessing the assembly zones all had to keep pace with the progress of the assembly.

The solution

A progressive assembly of multi-level structures

AGIR Installation carried out the assembly of the frames and beams, then installed the pallet supports and connecting elements that make up the rows. Site photos show the use of several aerial work platforms to access the upper parts of the structures. They also illustrate the preparation of components on the ground and installers working at various heights. The resulting layout distributes storage locations across several levels and organizes access between the rows. Cross-aisles are also visible in some sections, with yellow elements and floor guards. The overview shots highlight the continuity of the rows, while the elevated shots show the arrangement of the pallet supports. This project illustrates AGIR Installation's ability to coordinate the assembly of a large number of components within a distribution centre.
