AquaVerti Farms: Installation of vertical farming shelving in Montreal
AGIR Installation carried out the installation of shelving for vertical hydroponic growing at AquaVerti Farms, in Saint-Laurent, on the island of Montreal.
This food industry company grows leafy greens and herbs indoors, in a controlled environment. Its production model uses stacked growing surfaces to make use of the building's available height.
Our work involved assembling the metal structures housing the grow trays. Arranged in rows and spread across several levels, this shelving is an essential component of the production space layout.
This project illustrates the application of our expertise in installing industrial shelving within a specialized agricultural environment.
The challengeMaximizing vertical space in a specialized growing environment
The main challenge was installing a dense set of multi-level structures while accounting for the building's layout, existing columns, and available clearances.
The layout required particular attention to row alignment and the positioning of the supports intended for the grow trays. The repetition of elements along the length and height made assembly precision especially important.
Access to the different sections was also a challenge during execution. Work at height and component handling had to be organized within a space progressively occupied by the assembled structures.
The goal was to achieve a consistent layout, suited to the arrangement of the growing equipment and the use of the interior space.
The solutionInstalling multi-level shelving suited to hydroponic production
AGIR Installation carried out the assembly of the uprights, crossbars, and bracing forming the shelving rows. Laser references were used during the work to guide the positioning and alignment of the structures.
The progressive installation of the components formed the different support levels intended for the grow trays. Aerial work platforms were used to access the upper parts during assembly.
The assembly forms a vertical infrastructure that allows growing surfaces to be stacked within the building's available volume.
Through this project, AGIR Installation demonstrates its ability to work on specialized installations and adapt its expertise to the needs of businesses whose operations require a particular shelving configuration.
