LKQ: Installation of high-bay racking for auto parts storage

AGIR Installation carried out the assembly of storage structures for LKQ, a company specializing in the distribution of auto parts and vehicle repair products.

The project includes long rows of metal racking made up of blue frames and orange beams. The numerous storage levels make use of the building's height, while wire mesh shelves complete certain sections to accommodate the goods.

The layout stands out for the repetition of the bays, the closeness of the levels, and the length of the aisles. The photographed steps show the progression of the assembly, from preparing the components on the ground to installing the storage surfaces.

This project illustrates AGIR Installation's expertise in assembling large-scale racking for an auto parts distribution environment.

The challenge

Maintaining precision across long, multi-level rows

The assembly required particular attention to frame alignment and beam positioning. The large number of closely spaced levels multiplied the components to install and the assembly points to coordinate. The structures also had to fit within the building's layout, accounting for columns, bracing, and equipment located overhead. Row consistency and maintaining the planned spacing between structures were central challenges on site. Organizing work at height was another challenge. Components had to be prepared and distributed to ease handling, while allowing aerial work platforms to move and access to the assembly areas.

The solution

A progressive assembly of structures and storage surfaces

AGIR Installation carried out the assembly of the frames and installed the orange beams forming the different storage levels. Metal connecting elements complete the structures. The frames and beams were prepared on the ground, and forklifts and aerial work platforms were used during the work. This allowed installers to reach the different heights as the rows took shape. Wire mesh shelves were then installed in certain sections. They rest on the beams and create storage surfaces spread across several levels. The resulting layout organizes storage space at height and defines long aisles between the rows. This project showcases AGIR Installation's ability to coordinate the assembly of a large number of components in an auto parts warehouse.
